A New Beginning

You may have noticed the yearlong absence of Basil and her adventures. Truth is, Basil hasn't had any adventures in that time.

A year ago, I moved from Mississippi to Maryland and took Basil with me. She did not adjust well to this move. She took a year to "find herself."

Finally, today as the first snow of the winter fell, she emerged and told me it was time for a new adventure.

Fort Pike

Basil was feeling a bit uncouth so she decided to take a trip to a historic site!



Welcome to Fort Pike, the first fortress commissioned by the United States government!



During the tour, she got to fire a canon!



Basil even climbed on top of the Fort to get a better view.




As the tour went on, Basil grew more and more tired. She had to take a break and lean against one of the decaying walls.



Basil could feel herself drifting into the light.




The next thing she knew, she was someone's dinner! The bowl she was placed in was brought to a hungry soldier's mouth when all of a sudden...



...she awoke! Silly Basil had fallen asleep in the officer's barracks!

Basil's First Adventure

For Basil's first Thanksgiving, she wanted to have a holiday adventure fit for a monster. Since she was away from home, Basil decided to look up things to do in Louisiana.













Before she could find something magical and monstrous to do, she was flung back in time! She saw Sir William and Sir Victor joust!















After the battle, she met the victor - Sir Victor!














Basil was suddenly thrown back to the present and found herself at the Abita Brew Pub.













Let's just say the poor monster had a little too much to drink!
